Condition

The circumstances under which learners will demonstrate their learning. The condition describes the performance, not the instruction. This could be something they are given, like a map, something they must do without, like a calculator, or the setting or timing, like the end of a semester.

Audience

Who the learners are. Examples include students, third-grade students, or new hires.

Behavior

What observable, measurable action will learners perform, and what content, skill, or product will they act on or produce? Include verbs from Bloom's Taxonomy such as label, calculate, assemble, etc. Avoid verbs you cannot measure or check, like understand or appreciate.

Degree (optional)

How well the learners must perform, if applicable. Some possible examples could be an expectation of accuracy, completeness, time, or quality. If there are any required elements, such as 'include three supporting sources', or if the objective must align with a rubric, such as 'meet all criteria on the rubric', include that as part of the degree.

Example: Given a blank map of the UScondition, studentsaudience will label all fifty statesbehavior with 90% accuracydegree.
